Mohammad visits Airbus factory in Hamburg

Dubai – His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday visited the Airbus factory in the German city of Hamburg.

During the visit, which included four stops, Shaikh Mohammad toured the factory and was briefed about it by Andreas Foerster, VP A380 Final Assembly Line at Airbus, Hamburg, and Andreas Fehring, the head of Hamburg’s Airbus shipyard.

The Hamburg factory specialises in manufacturing and implementing the interior designs and painting the exterior structure of Airbus A380.

Commending Emirates’ commitment to the receipt and delivery dates [of the superjumbo], both Foerster and Fehring said Emirates was the first partner and customer to enjoy Airbus preference in the world.

In the first leg of the tour, Shaikh Mohammad visited the basic components assembly section for small and medium commercial Airbus A320. The Ruler of Dubai and accompanying officials then viewed some parts of the Airbus A320 structure, tailored for Emirates airline which bought 40 per cent of the Airbus-produced A380.

‘Second visit’

In the third leg, Shaikh Mohammad toured various sections of the factory where the interior designs of Airbus A380 are manufactured, especially for Emirates. He then viewed the working mechanism of painting the exterior structures of Airbus aircraft in Emirates colours.

He also praised the effort being exerted by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group, and his follow-ups on all matters related to the development of Emirates’ fleet.

Shaikh Mohammad was accompanied by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum and Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director-General of Dubai Protocol and Hospitality Department.
