Sharjah: Surrounded by lifelike images of animal poaching and the horrors of global refugee crisis, celebrity photographer Lorenzo Agius’ exhibition at the Sharjah International
Photography Festival, Xposure 2017, allows one a few moments of quiet with some of Hollywood’s biggest heartthrobs.
If you remember the iconic images of Ewan McGregor and cast for the “Trainspotting”
ad campaign, Agius is the man behind it. It is what he began his career with 20 years
ago. He has had a long and colourful affair with celebrities over the past two decades.
Lorenzo’s stunning portraiture technique is showcased at the Festival through Jack
Nicholson, Madonna, Samuel L Jackson, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Toby McGuire, Kate Blanchett and many others who represent Hollywood’s finest. Agius has become known as one of the preeminent portrait photographers of his generation and continues to work around the world for numerous commercial, film and editorial clients.
In every image, Agius tunes into the creativity of his subjects and successfully reflects the mood of a moment and the person in that moment. His works feature at the London’s National Portrait Gallery’s permanent collection.
Xposure 2017 is organised by Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) and runs until tomorrow, at Expo Centre Sharjah. A high-profile event, featuring the works of 32 of the world’s most celebrated photographers, Xposure has sparked region-wide creative engagement and inspiration.
