Dubai – University Hospital Sharjah, one of the leading healthcare providers in the UAE, won the award for ‘Distinguished Organization for CSR Contribution’ at the Annual Health Awards 2018. The gala ceremony held at the Grand Hyatt was attended by over 1,000 people, including dignitaries, healthcare leaders and professionals as well as popular celebrities like Bollywood’s Sanjay Dutt and Mayssa Maghrebi from the Arab region.
Jointly organised by the Dubai Health Authority and Health Magazine, the second edition of the Annual Health Awards acknowledged exceptional accomplishments in the field of healthcare. Humaid Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority awarded Dr. Ali Obaid Al Ali with a glittering trophy.
Dr. Ali Obaid Al Ali, UHS’s CEO and Board of Trustees, commented on the occasion: “It is an incredible honour to receive this prestigious award and be acknowledged for our CSR contributions. None of this would be possible without the support and wisdom of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. Winning an Annual HEALTH Award encourages us to extend out unwavering support for initiatives that empower individuals and communities to lead healthier lives.”
As a responsible corporate establishment, in 2016 and 2017, University Hospital Sharjah has organised over 72 campaigns, which is approximately three events per month. We directly impacted the lives of over 8000 patients with an influence on many more. In 2018, around 15 events have been organized for both corporate entities and the general public.
In collaboration with Sharjah Health Authority, the past campaigns covered a wide range of health topics from general awareness to breast cancer. The employees and visitors of the Sharjah Economic Development Department, Sharjah Human Resources Authority, Roads and Transport Authority, Petrofac, Sahara Center and Mega Mall, and many such other government organisations and private entities.
The Annual HEALTH Awards is an initiative of HEALTH magazine, the premier health and lifestyle magazine in the region.
