Dubai International Academy (DIA), managed by Innoventures Education, has announced the opening of a new campus in Al Barsha. DIA Al Barsha will offer a curriculum based on the full range of International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes, in line with the education offered at the original Emirates Hills school, and with an expansive state-of-the-art infrastructure.
Established in September 2005, Dubai International Academy is a diverse, student-focused school that became the first IB continuum school rated as Outstanding by the KHDA. It was also the first school in Dubai to be authorised to offer the full International Baccalaureate World School continuum programmes of Primary Years (PYP), Middle Years (MYP) and the prestigious IB Diploma Programme (DP). The school is accredited by a number of additional international institutions: the Council of International Schools (CIS); the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC); and has also been granted Green Flag status by Eco-Schools UAE.

Poonam Bhojani, CEO of Innoventures Education, states: “We are proud to be bringing an outstanding quality of education and exceptional state-of-the-art infrastructure to one of Dubai’s key neighbourhoods, Al Barsha. As Dubai’s first IB continuum school, DIA remains committed to elevating the approach to education and developing home-grown talent. As always, we are deeply thankful to our supportive parent community, dedicated staff, and our enthusiastic students who have collaboratively allowed us to expand our foundation for outstanding learning and generation-shaping initiatives.”

Every year the academic achievement of DIA students continues to improve; significantly exceeding IB world averages for the externally assessed MYP and DP programmes. Students graduate with more than just the accomplishment of being accepted into the world’s top universities; they are truly well-rounded young adults who take pride in a number of other achievements. Through the DIA Model United Nations (DIAMUN), sports, art, music, drama, robotics, film-making and student-initiated community service projects, Year 13students leave DIA fully equipped to take on the world!

The International Baccalaureate offers a broad-based, rigorous course of study, devised to develop students with 21st century skills as informed global citizens who participate actively and responsibly in a rapidly changing and increasingly inter-related world. In keeping with the renowned DIA culture, students’ learning experiences will extend well beyond the classroom; with an impressive 23-acre purpose-built campus hosting a range of facilities including multi-purpose halls, science and design & technology labs, temperature-controlled swimming pools, tennis courts, cricket nets, an amphitheatre, auditorium, football pitch and athletics track.

DIA Al Barsha will offer the full continuum of IB programmes and will uphold the exceptional standards that have come to be associated with the Emirates Hills campus and all Innoventures Education schools. Students will have access to enriching co-curricular activities, competitive sports and world-class education provided by highly skilled and experienced international educators from the Innoventures Education group.

The new DIA campus will be operational from September 2018 and will be open to students from the age of 3 years onwards with programmes from Pre-KG to Grade 9 initially. The school will continue to expand by adding a new cohort each year for the next three years, with the first group of IB Diploma Programme students graduating in 2021-2022. Of note to prospective parents is the special, discounted founders fee being offered for the first two years! -abdulbasit@theuaenews.com
