Dubai: Jumeirah Vittaveli has announced to bring a new first to the Maldives with the opening of the destination’s first ice rink.
The rink, which is set to be launch in the next upcoming weeks, allows guests to be carried away into a small winter wonderland of their own while indulging in the warmth of the tropics. An experience unlike any other, guests will have the chance to take a dip in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, then step off the white sandy beaches and into a pair of skates to glide over the resort’s glistening ice skating rink.
On this occasion, Amit Majumder, General Manager of Jumeirah Vittaveli commented, “The ice rink is a perfect demonstration of our ongoing efforts that always aims to ‘wow’ our guests. We have many guests coming back to us and the positive feedback that we often receive is that its due to the surprise elements in our offerings. Apart from the ice rink, we have some exciting changes in our rooms and dining outlets upcoming, which we will announce soon.”
Additionally, the resort’s management ensured to portray the winter ambiance into a tropical climate while adhering to its core values in relation to maintaining a eco-friendly sustainable climate. Therefore, the ice rink was built in partnership with Glice, a company that manufactures artificial ice plates, offering ice skating indoor and outdoor anytime and in any climate conditions. Contrary to a conventional ice skating rink, Glice uses special technologies that allows the ice rink to function entirely without water and at a zero-energy level.
