Relaxing rules during the three day-long national sterilisation drive in the UAE, the Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai has suspended the parking fees during the sterilization hours from 8pm to 6am until March 29.

In a tweet on its official Twitter handle, RTA said:
‘We would like to inform you that public parking fees in #Dubai will be free during the sterilisation period within the “National Sterilisation Program”, from 8:00 pm until 6:00 am the next day.’

UAE authorities have urged the general public to stay at home over this weekend to allow the national sterilisation programme to take effect.

The programme, which will see the sterilisation of all public places, government departments and the streets across the country, will be implemented starting March 26 at 8pm until Sunday, March 29 at 6am.

Earlier, Sharjah Municipality had announced free public parking in all areas of the city from Monday until further notice.

The relief measure comes amid a series of steps taken by the emirate to protect the health and safety of the community to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The municipality has urged community members to fully adhere to the authorities’ directives and stay at the home, avoid crowded places and gatherings.

The municipality clarified that the inspectors would closely monitor motorists to catch any violations, including double parking and random parking.
