The UAE News report: Abu Dhabi-based Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities organized a creative workshop for children this week at the Center for Excellence in Language.
The two-day, creative writing workshop, for kids aged 7 to 10, was held as part of the university’s goals to promote Arabic language among children, and as part of its mandate to be a leading centre for learning in the field of arts and humanities.
This course provided students with the foundations for short story writing by helping them explore their creativity, refine their creative storytelling talents, and prepare them to write stories based on their own ideas and imagination. Participating students learned to write a short story directed to children and were acquainted with the different elements of storytelling, such as place, time, dialogue, title, characters, purpose and meaning of writing the story, the plot and the conclusion.
The course also introduced children to different types of stories, including fiction, non-fiction, and animal stories, and how they can distinguish between them. They were also trained on character building through the “Create Your Hero” session.
