Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has announced several traffic diversions in Dubai to complete the vital projects in order to control the existing traffic and provide sufficient corridors that ensure a smooth traffic flow and avoid congestions.
Maitha Mohammad Bin Adai, CEO of the RTA Traffic and Roads Agency, said that phase one of the main diversion of Shindagha Roads Improvement Project (Intersection of Shaikh Khalifa Road with Shaikh Rashid Road), will be opened on Friday.
“This diversion extends from Shaikh Khalifa Road towards the Trade Centre in both ways, and from Al Garhoud towards Al Mina, through Shaikh Rashid Road. The total length is three kilometres in two phases. The diversion will continue throughout the project construction up to early next year to maintain the safety of road users, and ensure the smooth traffic flow,” Bin Adai said in a statement.
Meanwhile, works on the development of Shaikh Khalifa-Shaikh Rashid Roads are ongoing and the construction of bridges and tunnels is also progressing in concurrence with infrastructure services.
“The project encompasses the construction of a flyover of two lanes in each direction on the Shaikh Khalifa Road for traffic from and to Al Karama without waiting at the light signal. A four-lane tunnel is being constructed to serve the traffic from and to Mina Rashid via Shaikh Rashid Road, which will ease the snarls at the junction,” she explained.
Construction works are also progressing in another traffic diversion on both sides of Al Aweer Road in the directions of Dubai-Hatta-Oman involving bridge and road works as part of Al Aweer Road Improvement Project. Works will start on the improvements of Al Aweer Road, and Nouakchott Road in the sector from Al Aweer Road to Al Manama Road soon and continue up to the end of December.
