The UAE News Report
Abu Dhabi: UAE citizens and residents aged 10 and above are being invited to enter the One Ocean Photo Contest, with submissions closing on November 10, 2026.
The competition is organised by Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Maritime Awards. It encourages photographers to capture marine wildlife, seascapes and conservation stories from around the world and the Arabian region.
Four categories for young and adult photographers
A dedicated Youth category is open to entrants aged 10–17. Three further categories are reserved for adults aged 18 and above: Marine Conservation Message, Marine Wildlife, and Arabian Region Marine Environment.
The conservation category focuses on images conveying sustainability, responsibility and ocean protection. The wildlife category celebrates marine species, while the Arabian region category covers marine landscapes, seascapes and life above and below the surface.
Entries will be judged on creativity, visual impact, storytelling, perspective and their connection to the marine environment.
Twelve winners and a year-long exhibition
A total of 12 winners will have their photographs exhibited at the Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center for one year and featured in its 2027 calendar.
First- and second-place recipients across the categories will also receive prizes and experiences, including VIP behind-the-scenes tours of the centre and special meet-and-greets with Malquot the dugong.
The initiative forms part of the centre’s efforts to advance marine conservation and encourage the community to appreciate and protect ocean biodiversity.
Participants can learn more and submit their entries through the One Ocean Photo Contest page.
