More than 600 people took part in Al Ghurair Centre’s ‘45,000 Steps of Hope’ walkathon in Dubai, organised to raise awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection.
The event formed part of the Deira shopping centre’s Pink October programme with Canadian Specialist Hospital Clinics, held during its 45th anniversary year.
According to the organisers, more than 1,100 women have received on-site screenings and at least nine fitness sessions have taken place during the initiative.
Ramy El-Shaarawy, Vice President – Hospitality & Mall at Al Ghurair Centre, said: “Behind every pink ribbon is a story of courage, hope and resilience. This Pink October, Al Ghurair Centre stands with every woman facing breast cancer, because no one should face the journey alone.”
The walkathon partners included Fitze, Metrofitt and Jeanswest, alongside Canadian Specialist Hospital Clinics.
The programme continues at the Grand Atrium until 31 October, with free health screenings, awareness sessions and evening fitness classes.
