Dubai: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) handed over the charge sheet to Sharjeel Khan on Saturday.

The Islamabad United player in the second edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) recorded his video statement on Friday.

Khan was given 14-day time to file the reply and explain his position. He is facing charges of spot-fixing along with Khalid Latif.

The two Islamabad United batsmen were presented before the PCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) on Wednesday, after they were provisionally suspended and sent home from Dubai last week for their suspected links to an international fixing syndicate looking to corrupt Pakistan’s T20 tournament.

Earlier this week, the board also suspended former batsman Nasir Jamshed over his “important” role in the fixing scandal.

Sharjeel and Latif have reportedly been advised to plead guilty if they want to minimise the penalties they are going to face.

Khalid Latif, who earlier offered to become an approver, was offered by a top official of the board to confess his mistake and plead guilty, according to sources. A similar offer has been made to Sharjeel Khan as well, they added.
