Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that paid and multi-storey parking in Dubai will be free of charge for two weeks from tomorrow, Tuesday, 31 March up to Monday 13 April 2020.
The decision supports the public during the period of preventive measures against Covid-19 and the national disinfection programme of the Ministry of Health and Prevention and the Ministry of Interior.
It also supports the government’s remote work initiative and its directives to citizens and residents to stay home.
Earlier on March 27, Relaxing rules during the three day-long national sterilisation drive in the UAE, the Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai has suspended the parking fees during the sterilization hours from 8pm to 6am until March 29.
In a tweet on its official Twitter handle, RTA said:
‘We would like to inform you that public parking fees in #Dubai will be free during the sterilisation period within the “National Sterilisation Program”, from 8:00 pm until 6:00 am the next day.’
UAE authorities have urged the general public to stay at home over this weekend to allow the national sterilisation programme to take effect.
The programme, which will see the sterilisation of all public places, government departments and the streets across the country, will be implemented starting March 26 at 8pm until Sunday, March 29 at 6am.
Sharjah
Last Monday, Sharjah Municipality has announced free public parking in all areas of the city from Monday until further notice.
The relief measure comes amid a series of steps taken by the emirate to protect the health and safety of the community to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The municipality has urged community members to fully adhere to the authorities’ directives and stay at the home, avoid crowded places and gatherings.
The municipality clarified that the inspectors would closely monitor motorists to catch any violations, including double parking and random parking.
