After the huge criticism of the first US presidential election debate, the group that manages the election debates said on September 30 it would take measures to bring order to the final two debates between both the presidential candidates – President Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

Last Tuesday’s 90-minute debate was chaotic, marred by the President Donald Trump interruptions of both his Democratic rival Biden and the host, as well as Biden’s angry rejoinders.

The Commission on Presidential Debates has announced that it would make unspecified changes to the format to prevent another chaos in the next debate. The Commission is a nonpartisan group that has organised the events since 1988.

The first debate made it clear that more structure should be included to the debate format of the remaining two debates to confirm a more orderly debate of the issues in the country, said the group in a statement. The statement further mentioned that it carefully looking at the changes that the commission will adopt and will announce those measures soon.

Presidential candidate Joe Biden said in a campaign stop on Wednesday that he hoped organisers of the future debates would be able to turn off the microphone of the candidate who is not talking.

Talking about the first debate and Donald Trump’s performance, Joe Biden said, “It was a national embarrassment.” Biden added that he is not going to speculate what happens at the forthcoming two debates.

The Donald Trump campaign accused the organisation of “moving the goalposts and changing the rules in the middle of the game”.

Donald Trump also was critical of the debate’s moderator, Fox News anchor Chris Wallace.

President Donald Trump in a Tweet posted on Wednesday morning mentioned: “Chris had a tough night.” In addition, the President called the Tuesday night debate a “two on one” fight.

The debate commission defended Chris Wallace by thanking him “for the professionalism and skill he brought to Tuesday night’s debate” and promising “additional tools to maintain order.” The candidates for US vice president will face each other in debate next Wednesday, followed by two more US presidential candidate debates between Donald Trump and Joe Biden later in October.
