Covid-19 global death toll crosses 3m mark

The UAE News report: Global COVID-19 cases jumped by over 400,000 for the first time on Friday and it is one-day record increase despite the fact that Europe starts new restrictions to stop the outbreak of coronavirus cases.

During the past few weeks, Europe has become the epicentre of global COVID-19 cases where the average daily coronavirus cases surged to 140,000 in the past few weeks.

Region-wise Europe faces more daily infections than India, Brazil and the US together.

It is sad to learn by The UAE News that out of every 100 Global COVID-19 cases reported, 34 were from Europe, according to the latest analysis. According to the analysis, Europe is facing a million new COVID-19 cases in every nine days. The region has recorded over 6.3 million infections since the COVID-19 outbreak started.

Russia, France, United Kingdom, Spain and the Netherlands are major countries in Europe as they accounted for around half of the region’s coronavirus cases in the week to October 18.

Among these European countries, France is record the highest 7-day average of new coronavirus cases at 19,425 per day. It is followed by the United Kingdom, Russia, Spain and Netherlands.

That’s the reason some European nations are shutting schools, cancelling some surgeries and enlisting students medics as the countries see rising number of coronavirus cases.

For example, Russia is asking students to go for online learning while Northern Ireland is closing schools for 15 days and restaurants for a month.

Similarly, Spain government asked bars and restaurants to shut for two weeks and also limited people in shop in Catalonia.

After a record 6,526 new coronavirus cases and 116 deaths in a week in Poland, health officials in the country have advised that Poland is on the brink of disaster. Polish government is focusing on training for nurses and planning to launch military field hospitals.

In October, India recorded lesser cases compared to September at 69,000 per day. The number of cases fell by more than 20 per cent from previous week.

On the other hand in the United States, the number of coronavirus cases are going to higher side with new infections. The country is the epicentre of the Global COVID-19 cases with the largest total infections and deaths.
