An emergency approval for the use of COVID-19 vaccine has been announced by the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention, according to media reports.
In the beginning, the COVID-19 vaccine will be available to the “first line of defence heroes as they are at the highest risk of contracting the coronavirus, a UAE minister announced on Monday. It is stated that the vaccine will protect frontline workers from any dangers and provide safety precautions to them.
Emergency approval for the of use the COVID-19 vaccine is fully aligned with regulations and laws which permit accelerated authorisation process, said Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, UAE Minister of Health and Prevention (MoHAP).
It is mentioned that the results of the first and second test phases of the COVID-19 vaccine confirmed that it is safe, effective and triggered the right response.
The emergency approval was given after meeting a set criteria for this specific purpose, and working closely with the developers of the vaccine.
On Monday, the UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) announced through a tweet that the results of clinical trials in the country are moving on the right path, with all tests being successful so far.
In less than 6 weeks since the coronavirus study started, 31,000 volunteers 125 different nationalities had participated in the clinical trials. The side effects of these trails, as reported so far, are mild and expected, like any other vaccine, and no big side effects have been come across, according to the authority said.
It is also announced that the initial findings in the ongoing study are positive in terms of antibody production in the human body. The COVID-19 vaccine had been tested on around 1,000 volunteers suffering from different chronic diseases, and no complications occurred.
