Dubai-Sharjah travel time cut to 12 minutes for bus riders

The UAE News report: There is good news for passengers travelling between Sharjah and Dubai. Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority, known as RTA, is starting a new Dubai-Sharjah bus lane from October 25 and it will reduce the transit time by at least 15 minutes.

On the same date, a new Metro link of the bus (F81) will also be introduced, which will connect Al Qusais Industrial Area to Al Nahda Metro Station.

RTA also announced on Thursday that other changes in bus route will be announced on the same date.

RTA added that a new Metro link bus service (F81) from Al Qusais is going to be available every 15 minutes in peak hours, stated Adel Shakri, director of planning and business development at the RTA’s Public Transport Agency.

The Authority will also start an exclusive bus lane on Al Khan and Mamzar links for bus Route (E303) to shuttle riders for the Union Metro Station in Dubai and Sharjah’s Al Jubail bus junction, said Shakri. He informed that it will cut bus transit time about 15 minutes even during peak time between Dubai and Sharjah.

It is also announced that ten double-deck buses will be available for this new route.

It is also stated that numerous other bus routes will also be modified and improved from next week.

Other bus routes where the changes are being done include Route 77 and it will be extended to the RTA’s headquarters through Emirates Metro Station.
A bus route called: ‘Route C19’ is going to be abolished and on the other hand, some changes are being done for the service timings of Routes X94, X02, DPR1, 367, 97, 64A and 7.

RTA is fully committed to expand the Emirate’s public bus network and improve the network integration with other mass transit means like the Metro, tram and water transport, according to the RTA’s the director of planning and business development. He further emphasized that a well-connected and convenient public transport network would make it an optimal mobility option in Dubai.
