The UAE News report: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved a host of projects including Dubai beachfront project in Dubai to improve the quality of life in the emirate.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed approved the development of Dubai’s beaches  – the 12km beach development will cover Al Mamzar Beach to Umm Suqeim II and the total cost of project is estimated at Dhs500 million.

The beachfront development project will have more areas for swimming and better jogging paths as well as longer cycling track.

A project to develop 12km of beaches in Dubai was approved on Saturday as part of efforts to revitalise Dubai’s beachfront, increase swimming, walking and cycling areas.

The beachfront project will stretch from Al Mamzar Beach to Umm Suqeim II, covering an area of 1 million square metres. The estimated project cost is Dh500 million.

The project will expand the areas for swimming, and include better running paths and longer bicycle streets.

The project is part of a total of 29 development projects worth Dh2 billion approved in the emirate to add 8 million square meters of green spaces and parks to the Dubai’s residential and commercial areas.

The beach-front development will roll out better running paths and longer bicycle lanes along the 12-kilometre stretch of Dubai’s beaches, and will cover an area of 1 million square meters. More swimming areas will also be developed. “The quality of life in Dubai is the secret of loving life in the Emirate,” Sheikh Mohammed stated in a tweet on Saturday.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed also inspected an energy project at the cost of Dhs4 billion. The project will treat solid waste to produce energy.

Sheikh Mohammed said on Twitter, “Today we were briefed on the Dubai project for energy production by treating waste at a cost of Dhs4 billion. The project accommodates a thousand garbage trucks per day and generates sufficient energy for 135,000 homes… Dubai is a clean city… its energy is clean… and its neighborhoods are clean… and its energy resources must remain clean.”

Sheikh Mohammed also approved 29 new projects to add eight million square metres of green spaces and gardens, worth Dhs2 billion within Dubai’s residential and commercial areas.

Sheikh Mohammed said, “We are continuing to develop our city… we continue to develop our quality of life… we continue to build our future…”
