The UAE government has resumed issuance of employment permits for government and semi-government employees, as well as visas for domestic workers, authorities announced on Monday.

Work visas will be issued for those in vital sectors too, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship announced on Monday, in coordination with the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA).

The decision also takes into account precautionary measures being undertaken by the travel industry to contain the spread of Covid-19, said state news agency. The Covid-19 measures include PCR tests for workers before they enter the country, as well as quarantine if deemed necessary.

Valid UAE residence visa holders can enter the country irrespective of their nationality, including people working in government and semi-government entities.
