Dubai – WhatsApp service restored after suffering an outage that affected users around the world for hours.
The Facebook-owned messaging service confirmed in a media statement that it had been inaccessible, but did not say why.

“Earlier today, WhatsApp users in all parts of the world were unable to access WhatsApp for a few hours. We have now fixed the issue and apologize for the inconvenience,” said a WhatsApp spokesperson in an email.

Earlier, the popular message service WhatsApp stopped working around 1am in the UAE and other parts of the world including Pakistan on Thursday.
In the UK, it is noted that the service went offline at around 9pm with thousands now unable to access the popular messaging service.
It is reported that down detector is showing thousands of outages across the UK and other parts pf the world including Brazil and the US.
It’s currently unclear what is causing the issues or when things will be back online.
WhatsApp last experienced a major outage on New Year’s Eve – with users around the globe reporting down-time.
A spokesperson for the app then said: “Some people have had trouble accessing WhatsApp for a short period today.
“We’re working to restore service back to 100 per cent for everyone and we apologise for the inconvenience.”
This outage comes as WhatsApp is working on a major update.
The Facebook-owned chat app is testing a new feature that would allow users to pin conversations at the top of the menu within the app.
