The COVID-19 seems to be on an upward spree as the UAE on September 30 witnessed the biggest ever rise in daily coronavirus cases with 1,100 positive cases. The last day of September recorded the highest number of daily infection witnessed in the country, bringing the total tally to 94,190.

The authorities also reported 1,186 recoveries and three deaths due to complications caused by the COVID-19, bringing the total recoveries to 83,724.

The UAE is leading the way in global testing rates as the country for the third time in less than two weeks conducted over 100,000 coronavirus tests in a single day on Wednesday. Around 105,615 new tests were carried out. The country, so far, has conducted more than 9.6 million COVID-19 tests.

Earlier September 24 was the day when the country recorded the previous highest number of cases in a single day, with 1,083 cases. In September, it was the third time that daily coronavirus cases crossed the 1,000 mark.

However, the UAE government is taking all robust safety steps to keep people safe, which include comprehensive testing, temperature screenings at public places, multi-language awareness programmes and countrywide sterilisation drives.

During a media briefing on Tuesday, the UAE authorities announced that they detected 24,894 violations of coronavirus safety measures during the first 15 days of September. The National Crisis Emergency and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) official spokesperson Dr Saif Al Dhaheri mentioned that failure to wear face masks topped the list of violations. Another top violation was having more than 3 persons in a vehicle during this period.
