Pakistani TikTokers unhappy with the ban Hareem Shah

Abdul Basit: Pakistani TikTokers are not happy with the decision of banning TikTok – a video-sharing social networking service – in Pakistan.

Social media celebrity Hareem Shah on Saturday condemned the decision in a news conference in Karachi and alleged that it aims to move the attention of the public from real issues.

Pakistan’s telecom watchdog PTA impose a ban on video-sharing App TikTok on October 9 citing reasons of numerous complaints from different segment of the society.

The PTA in a statement mentioned that there were several complaints against immoral content that the App was sharing in the country.

TikTok is owned by China’s ByteDance that allows users to make video clips, lip-sync to songs and create short videos. The App has been downloaded more than 39 million times in Pakistan and is the third most downloaded App over the past year after WhatsApp and Facebook, according to analytics firm Sensor Tower.

Top Pakistani TikTokers make a handsome amount of money every month. TikTok does not pay, but Pakistani TikTokers make money by promoting different brands. And now they are unable to promote brands in Pakistan.

TikTok, which is a Chinese social networking app, allows users to make video clips easily by lip-sync to songs and create short videos to show their talent.

Earlier, TikTok had revealed that Pakistan is one of the five countries where the largest volume of videos had been removed due to violation of its community guidelines or terms of service.

In Pakistan, it is estimated that there are over two million TikTok users, and the App has become one of the most used social networking sites.

In Pakistan, there is no shortage of talent, and that’s the reason the country has some of the renowned TikTokers including Areeqa Haq, Jannat Mirza, Sherry, Mishal Butt, Aiman Zaman and Mujtaba Lakhani. These Pakistani TikTokers have millions of followers, and their videos attract millions of views.

Jannat Mirza recently touches the milestone of 10 million followers and become the first Pakistani Tiktoker who gets this crown.

The beautiful Areeqa Haq during an interview revealed that here earning is about 150-200K, but it all depends on the workflow.

Couple Pakistani TikTokers Sherry and Mishal Butt revealed that they are earning 200K each. They also told that there are brands, which are ready to pay a handsome amount of 100K for a 15 seconds video.

Pakistani TikToker couple Aiman Zaman and Mujtaba Lakhani said that they are earning around 160K by promoting a mobile brand. They do not depend on only TikTok earnings as Mujtaba is running a car showroom and Aiman is looking for a career in acting.
