The UAE News report: The UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has announced a three-day mourning period over the passing of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, earlier today.

Sheikh Khalifa ordered that the UAE national flag be flown at half-mast starting today (Wednesday) and be raised next Saturday, March 27. Dubai has announced a 10-day mourning period.

In a statement, President Sheikh Khalifa expressed his sincere condolences and sympathies to Al Maktoum family, asking Allah Almighty to grant them patience and solace to bear their loss.

The brother of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid was the longest serving UAE minister.

10-day mourning in Dubai

Flags in Dubai will fly at half-mast for 10 days from today as a mark of respect for the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, who passed away earlier today.

Work at government departments and institutions in the Emirate will be suspended for three days, starting tomorrow, Thursday, March 25.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has mourned the passing of his brother, Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance passed away on Wednesday.Taking to Twitter, Sheikh Mohammed wrote: “We belong to God and to Him we shall return. May God have mercy on you, my brother, my support and my companion.”
