The UAE News Report: In a sorrowful incident, a Pakistani national and his daughter lost their lives in a fire that occurred in Sharjah on Thursday, as confirmed by Faisal Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE.

The unfortunate victims, identified as Imran Khan and his daughter, were residents of Sharjah at the time of the incident. Imran Khan’s wife and two other children are currently receiving medical care in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Al Qassimi Hospital, Sharjah.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of January 25, 2024, at the family’s residence in the Muweileh area of Sharjah, resulting in the tragic demise of Imran Khan and one of his daughters due to suffocation. The ambassador expressed deep regret, stating, “An unfortunate accident occurred in the house of a Pakistani based in Sharjah on the morning of January 25, 2024.”

As the Pakistani community constitutes a significant portion of the UAE’s population, with 1.7 million nationals living and working in the country, the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai is actively engaged. Ambassador Faisal Tirmizi noted that the Consulate is in contact with the company of the deceased Imran Khan, ensuring comprehensive support and assistance to the grieving family during this challenging time. The South Asian diaspora, particularly the Pakistani community, holds a prominent position as the second-largest expatriate group in the UAE, making substantial contributions to both the local economy and their home country’s remittances.
