The UAE News web report: Police confirmed that several people had been injured and two died in central Vienna shooting on Monday evening. Police asked people to avoid public places as they started big-scale operations to save the area.

The Police in Vienna stated that there had been a multiple exchanges of fire in Vienna’s central Innere Stadt – the area full of different bars and numerous restaurants.

The Police added that the Monday evening shooting took place near the Stadttempel, which is the city’s main synagogue, but it is not yet clear if it was the target.

Vienna was planning to start a new coronavirus lockdown in which bars and restaurants were due to close at midnight for 30 days but it happened hours before the implementation of the new lockdown.
