The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Saturday reported 705 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 494 recoveries. One death was also reported. The new cases were identified after conducting additional 82,333 tests.

In a statement, the ministry highlighted its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out the necessary treatment.

The UAE has conducted over 7.4 million tests till date as part of the country’s massive screening programmes to combat the spread of Covid-19. The country leads the world in per million Covid tests. The country quickly ramped up its testing infrastructure, and has managed to control the spread effectively.

However, the ministry has urged the public to cooperate and stick to the Covid-19 precautionary measures outlined by the government. According to authorities, the country witnessed a surge in Covid-19 cases in the past few days mainly because of non-compliance with precautionary measures outlined by the country.

Meanwhile, the rules for entering the capital city were updated on Friday again and will take effect from today. The National Emergency and Crisis Department has said residents will need to produce negative result of either a PCR test or a DPI test from the previous 48 hours. DPI test results now no longer require a prior PCR test. Moreover, an additional PCR test is required if a resident or visitor chooses to stay in the Emirate beyond six days. The rapid laser test costs Dh50 and the PCR swab is priced at Dh370. Restrictions on entry to Abu Dhabi have been in force since June 2 to curb the spread of coronavirus.
